What are pores?
Pores are openings in the skin through which hair comes out, and they are connected to sebaceous glands. The sebaceous glands produce sebum, which is released through the pores.
Reasons for enlarged pores
Pores basically enlarge as gravity pulls them downward as we age, which is why age-related pore shrinkage looks like an elongated oval.

Once enlarged, pores are unlikely to shrink back naturally. Of course, pores can shrink slightly in size as the skin regains elasticity, but in the average adult, the walls of the pores are already hardened, making it difficult to reduce their size with cosmetics without a dermatologist.
